Altar Servers St. Basil Altar Servers are a dedicated group of adult and young men and women who assist our priests as they say Mass. It is an extreme privilege to kneel so close to the altar as our loving Savior becomes truly present; body, blood, soul and divinity, at the moment of Consecration. Christian Mothers The Confraternity of Christian Mothers at St. Basil Parish, was established January 22, 1922. The Christian Mothers organization dates back to the mid 19th century when "modern" forces were undermining the family life. Christian Mothers at St. Basil Parish meet every third Wednesday of the month during March though June, and again in September through December. Women of all ages are encouraged to join and share in fellowship, prayer, activities and travel with other women. Contact- Carol Lejeune, Membership Coordinator at 885-1204. Eucharistic Ministers Eucharistic Ministers of the Eucharist assist the priest with distribution of Communion at Mass, and by carrying the Holy Eucharist to parishioners who are home bound, hospitalized or in nursing homes. Faith Formation CCD - The Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are received in the Second grade. The Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year program beginning in the 7th grade. Students then receive Confirmation at the end of the 8th grade. Students who enter the CCD program after Second grade and who have not received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion are prepared on an individual basis. High school age students who are entering the Church or who have missed Sacraments in the Second and Eighth grades may attend a class that will give them a study of the basic Catholic beliefs and prepare them for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Confirmation - This sacrament is celebrated with students in the Fall of their 9th grade year. Preparation includes the 8 years of CCD or Catholic School and special events that allow these young teens to understand the gifts of the Holy Spirit. RCIA - Rite Of Christian Initiation For Adults is available for adults who are not baptized or not in full communion with the Catholic Church, and are called to have a fuller Christian life in the Catholic Church. Finance Council The Parish Finance Council is a consultative body of the Christian faithful established to advise the pastor in matters pertaining to the financil affairs of the parish and to assist parish administration in being accountable and responsible to the people over matters that relate to the temporal goods of the church. |
Ladies of Charity The Ladies of Charity of St. Basil Parish has been in existence since 1987. They work mainly with homebound parishioners and those in nursing homes. Get well cards are sent to hospitalized parishioners, birthday greetings to the homebound and nursing home paishioners, and sympathy cards to members of the parish whose family members have passed away. Ladies of Charity are constantly touched and edified by the deep faith and sincere gratitude of those they help. Their lives have been enriched through this ministry of service. In these many small ways, our Ladies of Charity are serving God's people well, especially those who have no one else and are in need. They serve in the spirit of humility, simplicity and charity. New members always welcome. Meetings held every third Monday of the month. |
Lectors Lectors proclaim the scripture in a way that reminds us God's word is alive here and now. By leading the Prayer of the Faithful, and proclaiming the scriptures, lectors remind us of our connections to both local and global communities and help pray for those in need. Liturgy Committee The Liturgy Committee consists of Father Torquato, Don Broderick and a small group of parishioners who gather periodically to coordinate the music and the appropriate decorating of the church for the various liturgical seasons and special services such as feast day celebrations, Eucharistic adoration, penance services, and missions. |
Music Ministry Music is a ministry that serves St. Basil Parish when we gather in prayer. Sacred songs reflect the very spirit of the church liturgy. Whether the music is joyous or sad it is always devotional. If you are interested in becoming involved in St. Basil music ministry, please contact the parish office. |
Respect Life Committee St. Basil Respect Life Committee is a group of parishioners who work to offer financial and spiritual support to organizations and programs that assist unwed expectant and single mothers. Annual activities include traveling to Washington D.C. to try and influence government officials to reverse the Supreme Court decision in the Roe vs. Wade case, which legalized abortion in the country. New members are always welcome. Please contact the parish office. |
Ushers and Greeters Male and Female Ushers and Greeters serve at all Saturday and Sunday Masses. More are needed and always welcome. If you wish to serve, please contact the parish office. |
Youth Ministry St. Basil's youth group is an active part of the community. Supervised by a certified youth minister, along with other adult volunteers, St. Basil youth group has expanded to include members from St. Albert the Great and St. Wendelin. The group meets monthly with activities being decided upon by the youth. Activities typically include projects that help the elderly and sick, baking for Meals on Wheels and an annual trip to Appalachia among other worth while projects. Interested youths may contact the parish office to join or request more information. Also check the page for current Youth Group activities. |

Men's Prayer and Fellowship Group This newly developed men's group is designed to bring greater solidarity of faith among the men of Saint Basil's Parish. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30 P.M. in the church hall following the 7:00 P.M. Mass. |

St. Paul of the Cross Retreat |
St. Basil Parish members have attended both men's and womens monastery retreats for many years. A retreat weekend removes you from daily noises of life and helps you reconnect with the spirit of God. For some, the great thing about St. Paul's Retreat Center is that it's designed to give you choices during your stay. You can feel your soul being fed whether you're in a breakout session or just relaxing in the library.
